What musical experience must I have?

No prior experience is necessary to begin learning the guitar.  Absolute beginners are welcome.  I take intermediate and advanced students as well.

Practice is the only requirement.  You should be ready to practice at least briefly every day.  The only way for you to see results from your lessons is to practice.  This is your job as a student.  My job is to give you challenging material to study, while keeping you lessons fun and enjoyable!

What guitars and gear do I need?

The only thing you need for your first lesson is a guitar.  Electric or acoustic are both fine.  I recommend that all students have these items:
Metronome
Guitar Tuner
Extra Strings
Picks
These items are inexpensive.  You can even find metronomes and tuners for free on the internet-- I'll show you some if you like.

I am available to consult you if you are shopping for a new guitar, and amplifier, effects or music software.  I've been a guitar gear-head for many years, and I have always loved helping people shop for gear!

What study materials do you provide?

I provide tablature, music notation, chord diagrams, and other materials for you.

What are the computer requirements?

Almost any computer will work.   Unless your computer is very old, it probably has enough RAM and a fast enough processor to handle video chat.  Your operating system will also be fine-- Windows or Mac both work.

You will need a webcam.  I can advise on models if you do not have one.

Your internet connection should be DSL or Cable.

You will need to install Skype, a free and popular video chat client.

When we have our lesson, I can help you with computer troubles.   In the rare case of a technical problem, where the lesson just can't happen, you are not charged for that lesson.

What are your rates?  How do I schedule a lesson?

My rates are $30 for a half-hour, $60 for a whole hour.

How many lessons should I schedule?

Weekly half-hour lessons are typical.  Pressed for time?  Try taking hour-long lessons every other week.  I can accommodate a variety of schedules.

Save money by reserving a block of lessons!
4 half-hour lessons for $100-- that's a 16% discount!
4 whole hour lessons for $200-- save 20%
My capacity for students is limited and liable to change as new students enroll-- reserving lessons is the best way to ensure your spot.

There is no commitment.  You can stop your lessons at any time.  100% Satisfaction Guarantee.
Try a lesson and see how it goes.  You are under no commitment, and you can take just as many lessons as you think you need.

When do I pay?  What if I need to reschedule?
Payment is required at least 3 days in advance of the desired lesson time.  Changes to your appointment must be made 24 hours in advance-- if you must miss your scheduled lesson, I am happy to reschedule it for you.
